Enjoy a TWO TANK dive excursion from Playa del Carmen to the vibrant Puerto Morelos Marine Park!

Your private Divemaster will pick you up from Centro Playa either at 6:30 am to head to the shipwreck or 7:30am for reef dives. The boat captain and guide will select the best sites to explore based on weather conditions, currents and your skill level.

2 Reef Dives - 3750mxn

2 dives on the Reef in Puerto Morelos Marine Park.

Enjoy the shallow or deeper dive sites in Puerto between 10 m / 35 ft to 40m / 140 ft. You will see an abundance of marine life and healthy coral that is protected by the government of Mexico as a National Marine Park. Light currents will make these drift dives easy and fun, perfect for beginner divers and photographers or naturalists. Check out Fish Market or Aquario for a taste of what Puerto diving.

C-53 Shipwreck & Reef - 3750mxn

The C- 53 Shipwreck is lying at 30 m / 100 ft and requires an advanced level of diving. To penetrate this wreck you need good buoyancy and air consumption. It is possible to spot eagle rays and schools of barracudas, jacks, sardines and many other species. The colors of the artificial reef and stunning with many small critters calling it their home.

What’s it like to dive

in Puerto Morelos?

The main feature of a regular dive in Puerto Morelos is the swirling schools of hundreds of grunts and chubs. During a typical drift dive you can spot nurse sharks, turtles, large eels and different species of rays including eagle rays. But if you look closer in the nooks and cracks you will find hidden nudis and camouflaged scorpion fish, spotted drums and other small critters.

The National Marine Park

Located along the stunning Caribbean coastline of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, the Puerto Morelos Marine Park is a national treasure! Activity on the reef is regularly monitored and maintained. Thus the coral is vibrant and the marine life abundant!

The Marine Park is part of the larger Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. It is the second-largest barrier reef system in the world! This thriving ecosystem is part of the Great Barrier Reef Belt of the Western Atlantic. It was declared a protected natural area in 1998.

The C-56 Shipwreck

Once a vessel in service during World War II, the C-56 now serves as a haven for marine life and an extraordinary diving destination. Its structure, adorned with colorful corals and an extraordinary abundance of marine species, has become an underwater oasis teeming with life.

The Cenotes

In addition to the reef, Puerto Morelos is close to some of the most unique cenotes in the Riviera Maya. In this region we find several deep sinkholes with Hell’s Bells stalactite formations at around 30m/ 100ft depth.

To dive Zapote and Maravilla Cenotes will require an Advanced Diver certification and recent diving experience. This amazing cenote combo is designed for adventure seekers and adrenaline junkies. Plan these dives in advance as they require reservations!

The Town

Puerto Morelos is a quiet town with not too much nightlife attractions. Most places close around 6 and only a few bars will stay open with live music. However, during the day you can find beach clubs and restaurants a plenty.

The main town plaza is quaint and you can shop or go for a snorkel as the reef is close to shore. Look for the “Ojo de Agua” its a cenote that opens into the sea.
